One Dentall Sets Up Graphy Memory Shape Aligner - First Time in North Karnataka

Problems like misaligned teeth or jaw issues have been common for many years. Braces were invented over a century ago, and since then, they have evolved significantly, making teeth misalignment a much less serious concern.

However, one major issue still remains with current orthodontic devices—they are uncomfortable for patients and difficult for doctors to manage.

Patients find metal braces uncomfortable because they can cause injuries to the inner cheeks. As the teeth begin shifting into place, the braces need frequent realignments. They also come with numerous dietary restrictions and make cleaning difficult.

Doctors struggle to convince patients to wear braces due to their poor aesthetics. Many patients feel self-conscious in social settings, especially those already dealing with self-image issues. The initial installation process is also complex.

While clear ceramic braces have solved some of these problems, they are still uncomfortable to wear and maintain.

We know that patients with misaligned teeth often wonder:

“Can we have braces that are easy to wear?”
“Can we have braces that we don’t even feel on our teeth?”
“Can we have braces that don’t require constant adjustments as our teeth move into place?”
“Can we have braces that don’t make us look like we have a disability?”

Well, you won’t believe it, but the answer to all these questions is yes! It’s possible—with Graphy Memory Shape Aligners.

These are still braces, but they are made from a special flexible material that allows for a better fit, making them easier to wear, clean, and manage.

Additionally, these braces are created using 3D printing technology, ensuring a personalized solution for every type of teeth misalignment.

One Dentall, Belgaum—the first TMJ clinic—has installed a setup for creating Graphy Memory Shape Aligners. This is the first of its kind setup in North Karnataka. These technology-backed aligners will make patient life easy. They are easy to wear, flexible, and aesthetically pleasing!

What is Graphy Memory Shape Aligner?

Graphy Memory Shape Aligner is a revolutionary 3D-printed aligner made from a patented flexible polymer material. This material gives it a clear, transparent, and lightweight appearance while also making it slightly elastic, allowing it to return to its original shape, a property known as shape memory.

Thanks to shape memory, the aligner automatically realigns to its original form when the teeth begin shifting back to their previous misalignment.

The technology is developed by Graphy.

How is the Memory Shape Aligner Prepared?

The creation of the Graphy Memory Shape Aligner involves seven key steps.

  • Step 1 - Oral Scanning: The process begins with a detailed scan of the oral cavity using an oral scanner, a camera-like device with a small LED positioned above the lens. This scanner captures an exact 3D image of the patient's dentures, which is displayed on a screen. Doctors can rotate the image to analyze teeth misalignments in detail.
  • Step 2 - Treatment Planning: The scanned image is then imported into design software, where a technician digitally corrects the misalignment, creating a model that closely resembles an ideal set of dentures. This model determines the shape of the aligner.
  • Step 3 - 3D Printing the Aligner: A patented resin called Tera Harz Clear is poured onto a plate, and a 3D printer is used to create a physical version of the aligner based on the digital model. Any excess material from the printing process is removed in the next step.
  • Step 4 - Centrifuging: The aligner is placed inside a centrifuge to remove residual resin. The centrifuge includes a built-in heating system, which melts any excess resin. If recyclable, the melted resin can be filtered and reused to produce new aligners.
  • Step 5 - Curing: The centrifuging process leaves the aligner slightly soft. To increase its hardness, it undergoes a scientific curing process using nitrogen. A specialized Tera Harz Cure system ensures the aligner becomes fully cured, clean, and transparent.
  • Step 6 - Polishing and Finishing: Any micro-sharp edges on the aligner could cause discomfort or injury to the oral cavity. To prevent this, the edges are manually polished using a soft abrasive material for a smooth finish.
  • Step 7 - Washing & Final Testing: The aligner is washed in an ultrasonic cleaner at 80°C for 2 minutes to remove any remaining impurities, ensuring it is in its cleanest state. For final quality testing, the aligner is placed in boiling water (100°C) to verify its thermoelastic properties. After being removed from the water, it is squeezed and released repeatedly to ensure it returns to its original shape, confirming its shape memory function.

Advantages of Graphy Memory Shape Aligner

Maintain Their Original Shape

The shape memory feature of these aligners helps them retain their original shape. Dentists and patients don’t need to worry about periodic realignment. The aligners themselves apply constant orthodontic force to pull the teeth into place.

Long-Lasting Usage

If the aligners lose their shape, they can be placed in hot water for a few minutes to regain their original form, eliminating the need for replacements.

Comfortable to Wear

Most aligners on the market are uncomfortable due to their narrow base. The flexibility of Graphy aligners makes them easy to slide onto the teeth without pain or discomfort.

Personalized Fit

Each aligner is 3D printed using a scan of the patient’s oral cavity, ensuring a custom fit tailored to individual dentures.

Easy to Clean

Graphy aligners can withstand temperatures up to 100°C, allowing thorough disinfection, which is crucial for maintaining oral hygiene.

Enhanced Tooth Movement Capabilities

Graphy aligners offer unique movement capabilities, including the ability to move teeth backward and rotate them up to 35°, something no other aligner can achieve.

Regulatory Approvals & High Patient Satisfaction

Graphy aligners have CE certification, and FDA 510(k) clearance is pending. They have received positive feedback from both patients and dental professionals, offering the advantage of same-day solutions.
